OVERVIEW

Located on the Hiwassee River with easy access to hundreds of miles of gravel grinding heaven plus a big bathhouse with hot showers, the Hiwassee Outfitters campground is the perfect location for our home base! We've adjusted the campsite layout for the 2025 event to accommodate a variety of uses from single-user tent camping to large groups. Hiwassee Outfitters also has six RV sites nearby (a couple hundred yards from the main campground) with water and electric hookups. This same area also has a field by the river that we will make available for free camping on a first come first served basis.

FREE SITES

Camping in the unshaded field by the river next to the RV sites is free. Space is limited and this area will be first come first served. No guarantees if you arrive late! There will be no designated campsites (it's just a small field by the river), so please be considerate of the campers around you when setting up your site and do NOT park on the gravel driveway, as the RV users will need to use all of the gravel area to maneuver. The main bath house is a couple hundred yards away, but we'll provide a few portajohns nearby.

SUPPLIES

Firewood, ice and other basic supplies will be available for purchase through the Hiwassee Outfitters camp store located next to the bath house.

RESERVATIONS

Campsite reservations for the primary campsites (not the free field) are available as add-ons to your registration when signing up through BikeReg. Reservations are only available for BOTH Friday and Saturday nights, April 25th & 26th, and the rates listed below cover both nights. If you would like to make reservations for additional nights, please contact us directly. There are no options for single night reservations.

  • RV sites: $80

  • Group sites: $60

  • Electric hook-up sites: $60

  • Individual sites: $40

RULES

  • The six RV sites have electricity and water, and campsites 1, 2 and 3 have electricity but no water. None of the other campsites have water or electricity.

  • In addition to the bath house, potable water is available at a couple of spigots in the camping area as noted on the campsite map below.

  • Generators are not allowed in the main Hiwassee Outfitters campground. They are only allowed at the six RV sites. 

  • Quiet hours start at 10:00 p.m. Please be respectful of your neighbors. No loud music at anytime.

  • Dogs are only allowed if they are well behaved and under control.

  • Volunteers camp for free!

FIRESIDE OUTPOST, our presenting sponsor, is just 15 minutes from the start/finish. The campground has cabins, RV sites, campsites with water & electric, as well as primitive sites and a spotless bath house. It's also the start/finish of the Friday shakeout ride.
